Research Finds One in Three Acquired Game Studios Was Eventually Shut Down

Sebastian Cardoso, founder of Game Studio Unlocked, found that half of the closures in his study of 303 acquired PC and console studios happened within five years of an acquisition. Overall, his analysis found that one in three of those studios was eventually shut down, while 60.8% declined or closed. Cardoso spent about three months gathering the data.
