How to compare news bias across countries
Start with the same event
Choose a specific event and a consistent time window. Comparing unrelated headlines or different publication periods can create a false impression of disagreement.
Separate source selection from framing
Compare which outlets covered the event, which facts they emphasise and whose voices they quote. A political label describes an outlet, not the truth of every article. Domestic left/right categories do not map neatly across borders.
Check the originals
Use the coverage comparator, then open original source links. Examine translation choices, ownership, publication dates and missing context. Absence from a monitored feed is not proof of censorship or absence from an entire country.
Keep a reproducible record
Record the event, countries, time range and source URLs. Look for independent corroboration rather than counting syndicated copies as independent reports.
